Sporting clays is all about variety — every stand is different, every target presents a new challenge, and no visits ever feel the same. At Wairarapa Clay Target Club, we’re proud to offer some of the most well-maintained grounds in the country, equipped with modern, professional traps and target systems. Our layouts are designed to be exciting and rewarding for first-time shooters, while still providing plenty of challenge for experienced competitors.

The Falcon Sporting Clay Series

 

We hold many sporting clays weekend each year, and our 2025 flagship sporting events are the Falcon Sporting Clay Series, running through till November 2025. The series is designed to be as flexible and welcoming as possible — whether you’re brand new to the sport, or a seasoned shooter chasing top scores.

​

• English Sporting (50 targets) – straightforward and fun, perfect for newcomers.

• Super Sporting (70 targets) – more stands, more angles, more challenge.

• Flexible Shooting Times – shoot anytime from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.

• Guided Intro Sessions – available on Fridays and Saturdays for new shooters.

• Re-entries Welcome – have another go and improve your score.

• Practice – Full flexibility with our card system to practice the stands and targets you want 

 

Every round is shot under safe supervision, with coaches available to guide first-timers. All gear can be provided, so you don’t need a firearms licence or your own equipment to take part.
