March Sporting Weekend Results

The first sporting weekend of 2026 is complete, and it was an outstanding way to kick off the season.

Across both days we were treated to near-perfect conditions, with warm, settled weather making for two ideal days on the course.

The targets received a huge amount of positive feedback. Both fields were set to be enjoyable, shootable, and rewarding, with the English Sporting offering accessible, repeatable presentations, and the Super Sporting providing additional challenge to keep shooters thinking.

It was particularly encouraging to see a wide range of shooters, including newer and developing shooters, stepping up and having a go at the Super Sporting. That willingness to challenge themselves is exactly what these weekends are about.

We also had great support from visitors travelling in, including some from Hawke’s Bay who made a weekend of it and camped on site. For anyone considering it in future, campervans and caravans are welcome during shoot weekends.

As always, it was fantastic to see a strong family atmosphere around the club, with plenty of youngersters around the ground. The club continues to place a strong emphasis on maintaining a safe, family friendly shooting environment, and it was great to see that reflected throughout the weekend.

💰 Prizes & Giveaways

As always, the Wairarapa Clay Target Club aims to give back as much as possible to those who support and participate in our shoots.

Across the weekend we’ve allocated cash prizes to 1st and 2nd place in each grade across both disciplines (as listed above, $50 and $30 respectively), along with Falcon Ammunition prizes, and a selection of random prize draws from all shooters who posted at least one official score.

All prizes are available for collection from the club office, with collection to be finalised by the conclusion of the April Sporting Weekend (25–26 April), after which any unclaimed prizes will be returned to the club prize pool. As with previous events, prize eligibility is limited to paid-up Wairarapa Clay Target Club members (Full, Junior or Associate) for 2026.

Ammunition prizes will only be issued upon presentation of a valid NZ firearms licence.
