Even Bigger in September – Falcon Sporting Clays Series Round 2

The Falcon Sporting Clay Series returned to Wairarapa Clay Target Club over the weekend of 26–28 September, and what a follow-up it was! Building on the buzz of August’s launch, Round 2 saw even more shooters through the gates — from first-timers giving it a go, to seasoned competitors looking to push their scores higher.

Once again, the flexible format proved a winner. Shooters mixed in practice, tuition, and re-entries alongside their official rounds, all at their own pace. The range was alive across all three days, and the atmosphere couldn’t have been better — plenty of breaks, plenty of laughs, and plenty of reasons to come back again.

Growing the Sport Together

A real highlight of this round was the surge in new shooters. With Falcon Ammunition backing the series, every newcomer received shells to set them up for another round at a future shoot. We also continued our focus on recognising improvement, effort, and achievement — celebrating the journey just as much as the final scores.

Prizegiving on Sunday wrapped up a fantastic weekend, with Falcon slabs going home with our most improved shooters and top score shoot-off winners. And for those who couldn’t stay right to the end, don’t worry — your prizes will be waiting for you next time at the club.

What’s Next

With two great weekends already behind us, the Falcon Sporting Clay Series now heads into the home stretch. Round 3 runs 24–26 October, followed by the grand finale in November. Remember — shooters who record at least one official score in all four rounds go into the draw for the incredible Lagoon Hills Driven Shoot prize package.

A massive thank you to our series partners Falcon Ammunition and Lagoon Hills Driven Shooting for making it all possible.

We can’t wait to see you back on the range in October!

(Disclaimer: Ammunition prizes are awarded in accordance with NZ firearms law and may only be collected on presentation of a current firearms licence. Where a winner does not hold a licence, the prize may be redeemed as club shooting credit.)
