What a start! The Falcon Sporting Clay Series kicked off this weekend at Wairarapa Clay Target Club, and the new format has landed as a real winner. Flexible, shooter-driven, and welcoming for all levels — from newcomers trying clays for the very first time, to experienced competitors chasing scores — the response has been nothing short of outstanding.
Across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, shooters came and went at their own pace, mixing official rounds with practice, tuition, and re-entries. The relaxed flow meant plenty of chances to shoot, improve, and just enjoy time on the range with mates. One of the biggest highlights was seeing so many new faces on the course, giving it a go and walking away with breaks, smiles, and plans to be back.
Designed for Everyone
This series is all about accessibility and fun. Whether you only had an hour to spare on Friday afternoon, wanted a guided intro session with one of our experienced members, or decided to bank hundreds of targets across all three days, the format gave everyone the freedom to shoot their way.
Thanks to the generosity of Falcon Ammunition, every new shooter to the Club was gifted shells to see them through another round at the next shoot. We also recognised most improved shooters and all those who excelled in their particular category.
As expected with the flexible format, not everyone could make it to Sunday’s prizegiving — but don’t worry, your Falcon prizes are waiting with your name on them at the Club for next time.

A huge thanks goes to our series partners Falcon Ammunition and Lagoon Hills Driven Shooting for their massive support.
We’re already counting down to the next one — see you on the range!
