Four big weekends. Two great disciplines. One groundbreaking format.
Falcon Ammunition is back for a second year as our naming rights sponsor, powering up the 2025 series to be even bigger, more flexible, and more inclusive than ever. We’re proud to partner again with Falcon. Their ongoing commitment to clay target shooting in New Zealand is nothing short of outstanding.
This year, we’re combining English Sporting and Super Sporting in a four-event series — and introducing a format never before seen in NZ shooting.
The New Format: Shoot When It Suits You
Forget fixed start times — our 2025 series is built for flexibility.
Each event weekend runs from Friday 1pm through to Sunday 3pm.
Shoot anytime over the three days — register your intent, then choose your own pace.
Practice at your own pace, post your official scores when you’re ready, and re-enter as many times as you like.
Whether you want to shoot both English and Super Sporting multiple times in a weekend, or take a more casual approach, the freedom is yours.
Perfect for First-Timers & Regulars
New shooters: Friday and Saturday are ideal. Book a club coach (see registration below) for guided introduction and coaching in a private environment — no firearms licence required under supervision. Gear provided if needed (small charge for disposables). Shoot as much free practice as you like before trying the event course.
Experienced shooters, this format is your dream playground:
Re-shoot tricky targets until you nail them
Post multiple scores to chase your personal best
Fit your shooting in around your weekend plans
How It Works
4 fields in operation, each with multiple stands
Promatic Claymate control system for both competition and practice
For competition: collect your scorecard, squad up with at least 1–2 others, and get a squad claymate card for your official round
For practice: grab your own claymate card with credit and shoot as much as you like, working around competition squads
Choose Your Challenge
Similar to last year, you can tailor the experience to your skill level — or mix it up and try both.
English Sporting – More straightforward stand positions make target flight paths easier to read. Each stand presents a pair of targets, that you'll be presented multiple times. This plays with your head as much as your hands, and even the best shooters will miss a “lollipop” now and then. It’s simple, but it keeps you honest. One round = 50 targets. Re-enter as often as you like, your best round will count.
Super Sporting – Targets are still very accessible for all shooters, but expect slightly trickier stand positions and angles. Many targets are singles, and you can take two shots if you need them. It’s a touch more technical than the English course, but nothing’s stopping you from giving it a go. One round = 70 targets. Re-enter as often as you like. Your best round will count
Both courses run side-by-side, running off the same traps, but different stand positions — so you can choose your comfort zone, or push yourself to try the other style.
Prizes & Recognition
The 2025 Falcon Sporting Clay Series celebrates all shooters — from experienced competitors to those picking up a shotgun for the first time.
We’ll have awards for:
Top performances in both English Sporting and Super Sporting
Including categories Juniors (U21), Ladies, Veterans (55+), Super Veterans (65+)
New shooter recognition – for first-timers, most improved, and those showing great spirit
Special focus on encouraging and celebrating new participants
Fun and spot prizes – including on-the-day challenges and random flash target rewards
Series champions – based on performance over all four weekends
Special Highlight: Thanks to the incredible support of Lagoon Hill Station and Louis Vavasour, we’re once again offering a driven pheasant shoot at Lagoon Hill Station as a prize in 2025. This exclusive experience will be drawn from all shooters who post at least one round score at all four weekends of the series.
With a huge prize pool from our generous sponsors, there’s something for everyone — whether you’re chasing titles, personal bests, or simply enjoying the experience.
